Connecting your trip to your calendar
💡Turas currently only supports synchronizing to Google Calendar. We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to use a different calendar.
Syncing your trip to your calendar is the best way to take your trip with you. We thought long and hard about whether we needed to build a notification and reminder system, but we realized that most people already have a notification and reminder system that they prefer to use every day: their calendar.
To start, click the gear icon at the top of the trip:
Then click Sync to calendar.
This will bring up the following dialog:
Once your trip has a start date, you’ll see the option to Connect Google Account:
You’ll be prompted to grant turas.app permissions to create an app owne calendar:
This means that:
- Turas cannot see your other calendars
- Turas will create its own, separate calendar in your account
- You can delete the calendar at any time if you don’t want to use it
- You can manage the calendar outside of turas and add more events (turas won’t modify them)
- You can manually add other people to your calendar in Google Calendar separately if you want to.
Once you connect your account, you’ll be prompted to Sync to Google Calendar:
💡Turas does not automatically sync changes to your calendar. If you have changes that you want to sync to the calendar, you must do this by clicking on Sync to Google Calendar. The sync is one way so only events from turas are synced to the calendar and not the other way around.
When you sync the calendar, turas will create its own calendar:
Turas will sync the following:
- Confirmed Stays like hotels, Airbnbs, campgrounds, etc. are always synced.
- Each Day is synced with the itinerary for the day in the calendar event.
- Any event with a specific start or end time are synced like Arrive at SFO in this example.
The synchronized day will have everything attached to it so you can quickly access all of the information directly in your calendar:
When you sync a Stay, it will have your confirmation number included:
If you click on View source, this will take you back to your turas trip. You can also click on the address of the place to load into Google Maps:
